How to read this page. It runs in calendar order, spring to winter, so you can see what you're walking into or time a trip around one weekend. Every entry links to the festival's own site for the exact dates, which shift a little each year. Our walk runs every Saturday and Sunday whatever is on, and on the big weekends it's the calm bit of the day before the music starts.
Spring
Cork St Patrick's Festival · March
The 17th of March is a proper city event in Cork, with a big parade through the centre and days of music and family events around it. The city is busy and in good form; book a bed early if you're coming for the weekend. The five-day programme lands on the Cork City Council festival page closer to the day.
Cork International Choral Festival · late April to early May
One of Europe's oldest choral festivals, running since 1954. Five days of choirs from all over the world, competing in City Hall and singing free in churches, galleries and shopping streets around the city. The 2027 festival runs 28 April to 2 May. Programme at corkchoral.ie.
Early summer
Cork Harbour Festival · late May to early June
Ten days celebrating the second-largest natural harbour in the world, with sailing, kayaking, boat trips and events strung along the waterfront and out to Cobh, capped by the Ocean to City rowing race. A good excuse to get out on the water. Programme at corkharbourfestival.com.
Cork Midsummer Festival · mid-June
One of Ireland's leading arts festivals, ten days of theatre, music, art and one-off events staged all over the city, often in unexpected places. It uses Cork itself as the stage, so even a wander turns up something. Full programme at corkmidsummer.com.
Whatever the festival, walk the city first
Seventy-five to ninety minutes through old Cork with a local guide, from Shandon to St Fin Barre's. Small groups, every Saturday and Sunday, and every guest goes home with a free Cork history book.
High summer
Live at the Marquee · June to July
Cork's big summer concert run, in a huge tent down at the docklands, a short walk along the river from town. Irish and international acts across several weeks, plus comedy nights. Line-up and tickets at Aiken Promotions.
Cobh Trad Fest · late July
Four days of traditional music down the harbour in Cobh, 25 minutes by train from Kent Station. Sessions in the pubs, headline concerts, workshops in fiddle, whistle and bodhrán, and a lovely setting under St Colman's Cathedral. Programme at cobhtradfest.ie.
Cork Community Pride · early August
Cork's Pride weekend, back in 2026 under new volunteer organisers after the previous company wound up. The parade assembles on Grand Parade and takes a circular route through the city, with a family picnic and events around it. Expect road closures and bus diversions on the day. Cork on a Fork Fest · mid-August
Five days of the city's food scene, more than 150 events: pop-ups in historic buildings, guided food trails, free demos, brewery and distillery tours, and a long table set out on the street. Free to wander, and the best week of the year to eat in Cork. Programme on the Cork City Council site.
Cork Heritage Open Day · mid-August
One Saturday near the end of Heritage Week when around forty historic buildings across the city open their doors for nothing: fire stations, Masonic halls, old churches, working offices, a few places you would never otherwise get past the front step. Guided street walks run alongside it. Book the popular ones as soon as booking opens. Listings on the Cork City Council site.
Autumn
Culture Night · mid-September
A national late night of free culture, and Cork does it well. Galleries, studios, churches, museums and the odd unexpected building stay open into the evening and charge nothing at the door, with music and talks scattered through them. Good for a wander with no plan. Programme on the Cork City Council site.
Cork Folk Festival · early October
Running since 1979, a feast of folk and trad across more than twenty venues around the city, with concerts, sessions and singers from all over Ireland and beyond. A quieter, deeper cousin to the jazz weekend. The 47th festival runs 8 to 11 October 2026. Details at corkfolkfestival.com.
Guinness Cork Jazz Festival · late October
The big one. For one long October weekend the whole city becomes a jazz festival, with big names on the main stages and free music spilling out of nearly every pub. It's Cork at its most alive, and beds book out months ahead, so plan early. Line-up at guinnesscorkjazz.com.
Winter
Cork International Film Festival · November
Ireland's oldest film festival, going since 1956. Ten days of premieres, documentaries and shorts across the Everyman, the Triskel and the city cinemas, with directors in the room for a lot of it. The 71st festival runs 12 to 22 November 2026. Programme at corkfilmfest.org.
Glow, A Cork Christmas Celebration · late November to December
The city's Christmas festival, free to walk into, set up in Bishop Lucey Park on the Grand Parade. Food stalls, live music and carol singers, a Santa's workshop for small children, and a ferris wheel that gives you the whole lit-up city. It runs Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from late November to just before Christmas. Details on the Cork City Council site.
